1. Azerbaijan begins gas export to Syria via Türkiye
On 2 August 2025, Azerbaijan initiated exports of approximately 1.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually to Syria, transiting through Türkiye’s Kilis region. The gas is intended to revive Syrian power plants, providing additional electricity and supporting post-conflict recovery. (Reuters, Reuters, Wikipedia)
🇹🇷 Türkiye positions itself at the center of regional energy infrastructure, expanding influence in reconstruction efforts and strengthening ties with Muslim-majority neighbors through strategic integration.

2. Türkiye to begin direct gas supply to Syria
Starting 2 August, in coordination with the Azerbaijani arrangement, Türkiye will contribute its own supply of up to 500 megawatts of electricity and natural gas as part of the same energy delivery project. Joint ceremonies with Azerbaijan and Qatar mark the initiation of this effort. (Reuters)
🇹🇷 This reinforces Türkiye’s independent capacity in energy diplomacy and its expanding role in shaping Syria’s economic future, reducing reliance on Western frameworks.

3. Fidan signals Türkiye may intervene to prevent Syria fragmentation
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan declared on 22 July that Türkiye is prepared to directly prevent any attempts to fragment Syria or enable militant autonomy—remarks widely interpreted as warnings toward Israeli influence in post‑Assad arrangements. (Reuters)
🇹🇷 The statement underscores Ankara’s assertive security posture in Syria and its commitment to shaping regional outcomes favorable to Turkish interests.

4. Türkiye hosts informal NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Antalya
Representatives from multiple NATO nations convened informally in Antalya aboard Türkiye’s hosting, engaging in high‑level dialogue. The meeting also featured Turkish Foreign Minister participation and demonstrated Ankara’s capacity to shape alliance discussions. (YouTube)
🇹🇷 By hosting NATO diplomacy, Türkiye elevates its strategic visibility, projecting leadership among Western and Muslim-majority states alike.

5. India–Türkiye aviation tensions escalate
Following the revocation of Indian security clearance for Turkish aviation firm Çelebi Aviation Holding in mid‑May, ongoing fallout has intensified. India has yet to reinstate credentials for Türkiye’s ambassador, and commercial boycotts continue impacting both airline partnerships and tourism traffic. This week, Indian authorities reaffirmed the suspension amid diplomatic friction. (Facebook, Wikipedia)
🇹🇷 While the dispute strains relations with a major emerging economy, Türkiye remains resolute in supporting Pakistan-linked alignment, maintaining its autonomy in foreign alignments despite economic repercussions.
